Which startups develop the other 36 solutions?

H3C – WiFi 6 Routers

WiFi 6, also known as the IEEE 802.11 ax standard, requires routers to provide high-speed, low latency connections supporting multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (MU-MIMO), which is especially important in enabling the internet of things (IoT) applications. WiFi 6-enabled devices have to support different speeds, from various small IoT devices to high-speed streaming. For example, support for high-performance applications allows for installing corporate WiFi networks that typically have a lot of simultaneous users.

H3C is a Chinese scaleup that provides high-speed WiFi 6 routers. The startup’s WA6600 series supports 6 GHz WiFi 6 with up to 5 Gbps speeds. It supports all main WiFi 6 features, including MU-MIMO and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) together with communication protocols for IoT. Some examples of applications for this solution include Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), radio-frequency identification (RFID), ZigBee, and ultra-wideband (UWB).

Vsora – Combining Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Signal Processing

Modern wireless protocols, like 5G and WiFi 6 require high-performance computational capabilities to provide high-quality connectivity. That is why there is a growing need for different types of integrated circuits (IC), especially to enable smooth network performance for high-speed applications. For example, emerging startups are working on digital signal processors (DSPs) that unite all communication hardware in a single package.

Vsora is a French startup that provides scalable, re-programmable, and software-driven DSPs and AI with high processing power. The startup allows its customers to choose different hardware configurations of arithmetic logic units (ALUs) per core and also offer a variable number of cores. Vsora’s custom designs further help minimize micro scheme die area and power consumption, making its solution capable of handling the requirements for the next-generation of autonomous vehicles (AVs).

ETA Wireless – WiFi-6 Power Management

One of the major challenges facing high-speed communication networks is high power consumption. Since current WiFi 6 devices are at an early stage of development, at higher speeds, they tend to consume a lot of power. To this end, startups and scaleups develop solutions to minimize power consumption for wireless networks.

The US-based startup ETA Wireless provides technology for decreasing power consumption of wireless communication networks, including WiFi 6. The startup’s ETAdvanced power management chip for wireless communications helps significantly reduce power consumption for smartphones, wearables, and IoT devices. The startup deploys its novel power amplifier architecture that constantly optimizes the energy consumption of devices. ETAdvanced further reduces the waste heat generation in smart devices, sometimes by up to 80%. This enables the development of smaller device designs that are not constrained by heat dissipation issues.

Ignition Design Labs – Multi-Channel Zero-Wait Bandwidth

WiFi 6 supports 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequencies. It uses a wider band range, sometimes up to 160 MHz, to support high-speed networks. However, this also creates radio interference if multiple devices are connected to the network. To increase speeds and support low-latency communication on multiple devices, additional bandwidths are utilized.

Ignition Design Labs is a US-based startup that provides multi-channel, zero-wait dynamic frequency selection (DFS) technology. This solution creates an additional 320 MHz of operating spectrum and provides fast channel hopping by employing dynamic load balancing and traffic avoidance. As a result, the startup is able to provide greater wireless capacity, speed, and coverage while also lowering latency. Ignition Design Labs supplies the solution in the form of a separate device or expansion module that is integrable into any new router or mesh network access point.

HackHunter – Detecting Unauthorized WiFi Networks

As with most wireless networks, WiFi 6 networks are also vulnerable to cyber risks and attacks. To prevent these attacks, WiFi networks use different cryptographic methods to encode messages. Still, this is not enough to secure WiFi networks from malicious attacks. This prompts emerging communication technology startups to develop techniques that help businesses, as well as households, handle their cybersecurity needs.

Australian startup HackHunter provides an innovative solution to accurately track and locate WiFi networks in real-time. The startup offers a range of devices including its Pursuit Tracker, Vision Continuous Monitoring, and HackHunter Air, to monitor WiFi networks for malicious activity. The Pursuit Tracker is a handheld device that incorporates directional precision to find WiFi sources. The Vision Continuous Monitoring device performs a 360-degree scanning for detecting unauthorized WiFi networks. HackHunter Air locates WiFi-operated drones to identify unauthorized drones and also the person controlling it.
