Refit Animal Care manufactures Cattle Dietary Supplements

Foraging alone provides insufficient nutrition required by livestock to meet current human demands. Therefore, supplements have an important role in cattle diet. The right balance of mineral supplements improves microbiota and regulates animal growth. For this reason, startups are developing cattle feed supplements for farms to optimize animal food intake, control diseases, and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, among others.

Indian startup Refit Animal Care provides a range of animal health care products, including cattle feed supplements. The startup’s cattle dietary supplements include mineral mixtures, liquid multivitamins, digestive enzymes, and herbal liver tonics. Their product range improves the digestive system of livestock and also accommodates changes in the condition of livestock, for example, due to changes in the season.

Locus Animal Nutrition creates Probiotic Feed Additives

Methane emissions from cattle are among the largest contributors to GHG emissions in the agriculture sector. As farms transition to more sustainable practices, feed additives that reduce cattle emissions also offer a method for agricultural decarbonization. However, farmers and the public do not prefer artificial supplements. As a result, startups are offering supplements that utilize only natural ingredients.

US-based startup Locus Animal Nutrition provides sustainable, probiotic cattle feed additives. The startup’s patented production process creates additives that reduce livestock methane emissions as well as improve feed-to-weight ratio, digestibility, immune, and gut health. Besides, it does not change the taste of the produced milk. The additives’ pelletized form and long shelf-life also make it easy for farmers, warehouse operators, and distributors to store.

nextProtein provides Insect-based Animal Feed

Animal agriculture is under constant pressure to increase scale due to rising food demands. It is challenging to increase space requirements for cattle management as well as the need to grow more crops to feed them. To sustainably scale the production of animal feed, startups are creating protein-rich feed made from insects.

nextProtein is a French startup that produces protein-rich cattle feeds. The startup’s production process begins with feeding biowaste to black soldier flies (BSF). The fly larvae are then either sieved to raise BSFs or ground to make nextProtein, the startup’s cattle feed additive. This addresses food waste as well as provides a circular animal feed alternative.

Diptar offers Alfalfa Livestock Feeds

In livestock farming, a significant portion of the budget is usually allocated to producing animal feed. As food demand continues to grow, this increases the burden on farms growing livestock feed. Additionally, as the agricultural industry increasingly imposes restrictions on artificial and chemical agents, farming operations are becoming increasingly unviable. For these reasons and more, startups provide natural and highly nutritional crops, specifically for use as animal feed.

Ukrainian startup Diptar is a producer of alfalfa pellets and bales as animal feed. Their manufacturing process places importance on all aspects of the production and trade cycle to ensure that the animal feed is both high in quality and economically priced. To maintain a high nutritional value, their pellets and bales contain a healthy mix of protein, fiber, ash, carotene, fat, and humidity. The startup improves the quality of human nutrition by providing a higher quality of animal feed.

ProAgni produces Methane-Mitigation Cattle Feed

Emissions from cattle are among the top contributors of GHGs globally. A significant portion of GHGs from livestock is generated from digestive fermentation. To combat this, farms use additives or supplements that limit the creation of gases within livestock digestive systems. Startups are also developing feed that reduces emission due to enteric fermentation while also improving overall cattle health.

ProAgni is an Australian startup that provides a range of cattle feed products. Their products ProTect C, ProTect C Finish, and ProTect C Wean are designed to enhance microbial resistance and balance nutrition content. Moreover, these products contain ingredients that mitigate methane production within cattle. The startup’s solutions provide farmers a cost-effective and natural feed for their cattle that also reduces the dependence on antibiotics.
